*SUMMER 2007 SIGN UPS*
Practices will be held
Monday-Friday (times will be posted on the Home Page)
We encourage at least 3 days practice for the most benefit. There will be several home meets and also Invitationals that can be attended.
During the first week of practice, first time swimmers will be evaluated
by the coaches. If you are unsure if your child can swim the required
length of the pool or ready to be on a competitive team, this is the
perfect time to get them in the water and have them evaluated.
Any questions or comments may be sent through the email on the contact
page of the website.
Hope to see you all there!

Hobart Tiger Sharks Swim Club is a competitive swim organization open to children ages 4-18 who currently know basic fundamentals if swimming.
(This is not a learn to swim program)
The benefits of swimming are endless. Not only does it allow your child the opportunity to compete against other kids in their age group, it also can be used as a conditioning tool for any other sport.
This brings up the question:
"How can swimming help my child in other sports?"
Swimming is one of the best foundations for conditioning young athletes.
Benefits include:
♦ Develops the cardiovascular system without the wear and tear on growing
bodies.
♦ Competitive swimming teaches potential athletes about competition at
an early age enabling them to learn about pre-comp/comp routines,
mental skills, etc.
♦ Develops a great workout ethic and prepares the athlete for training
habits they can use at a later time.
♦ Teaches them an excellent training skill they can use to help recover
from injuries from other sports.
♦ Swim therapy is used as a way to work on flexibility, muscle control and
body movement.
Take a look at these facts:
♦ Practically all your body's muscle groups are used in full swimming
movements
♦ Because the specific gravity of the body is similar to that of water you
feel lighter when submerged, yet you have the same strength as when
out of the water.
♦ The horizontal position of swimming reduces the physical demands on
your body
♦ Swimming is particularly good for people with musculoskeletal problems
such as joint pains and limited mobility
♦ Your joints become more flexible through swimming primary movements
of stretching and reaching
♦ Muscles strengthen from the repetitive movement and the resistance of
water to your stroke
